OmegaWiki is a project that is evolving slowly but surely. Here are some of the more memorable dates:

• April 27, 2009 The search field on the left is now case sensitive.
• January 26, 2009 Several little bugs have been fixed. We are experimenting with Right to Left support.
• November 5, 2008 We have thirty thousand expressions for Spanish.
• October 30, 2008 We have forty thousand DefinedMeanings.
• October 28, 2008 French is supported with 20.000 expressions.
• June 17, 2008 The first results of OmegaWiki mark II are available.
• May 29, 2008 The vocabulary trainer has been added to the main menu of OmegaWiki.. it uses the data from OmegaWiki, so with more and better terminology it will be of more use :)
• May 28, 2008 In Genome Biology, a paper was published introducing the first WikiProfessional. This is exactly what we have been waiting for .. :)
• March 5, 2008 Thanks to the University Bamberg OmegaWiki is now monitored and restarted when the database fails.
• January 16, 2008 The localisation of OmegaWiki can now be done at Betawiki.
• November 17, 2007 The first translations have been imported; they were language names in Breton.
• October 16, 2007 Documentation for the software can be found here.
• October 14, 2007 The first links to Wikipedia have been created on Italy.
• October 1, 2007 Database tuning provides a much improved responsetime.
• September 30, 2007 New functionality becomes available, most notable class specific relations.
• August 16, 2007 Some initial MySQL configuration makes a lot of difference :) .
• August 3, 2007 Wikiprotein was presented for a first time publicly at Wikimania.
• July 26, 2007 In preparation for new functionality that will be announced at Wikimania we have a new Main Menu.
• July 6, 2007 More updates have gone live; the auto completion function has been speeded up.
• June 19, 2007 New functionality and refactored code have gone live.
• June 3, 2007 We have reached 250.000 Expressions.
• May 7, 2007 Leftmostcat imported for the World Language Documentation Centre, the ISO-CD-639-6 data in the OmegaWiki database.
• May 5, 2007 Collections are now supported more visibly.
• March 22, 2007 All HTML tables are sorted in alphabetical order on the client side.
• February 5, 2007 OmegaWiki uses the latest MediaWiki version 1.10a, it coincides with new functionality.
• Christmas eve 2006 We have been presented with part of speech functionality, the best present !!
• December 16 Thanks to developer Leftmostcat, you can now annotate expressions with example sentences.
• December 12 WiktionaryZ is being renamed to OmegaWiki. This is to prevent confusion between this and the WMF Wiktionary projects.
• October 18 The language selector will now only English or German content.. the next step is importing the names in other languages into the UI.
• October 3 Our first real product has been envisioned and is in the works (you can help!): The OLPC Children's Dictionary, a children's dictionary for the OLPC project.
• September 27 DefinedMeanings can now have their own talkpages and relations can be bi-directional.
• September 12 Bureaucrats now have a tool to add languages. Mandarin, Sicilian are among the first ..
• September 8 Logging and history on expressions is now available.
• August 30 We have our 500th user.. Another milestone.
• August 16 We now have well over 400 users and regularly hit over 1,000 edits in 24 hours.
• July 28 The order for showing definitions is: the language of the user interface, English, whatever is available. Also icons have been added to indicate where information can be added.
• July 24 The first logo: WiktionaryZ now got his "teen-outfit" at least we would call it like that if it was a person.
• July 20 It is now possible to add new DefinedMeanings and new Expressions. This allows people to add any kind of content..
• July 14 Another upgrade: new DefinedMeanings can be added to existing Expressions. The layout has been improved as well.
• June 13 Another upgrade: new stylesheets, support for removing relations, RC functionality restored. WiktionaryZ now fully resides under wiktionaryz.org.
• June 12 WiktionaryZ officially changes its Licensing to a dual-licensing model of Creative Commons Attribution and GFDL
• May 31 - New functionality has gone online; notable is a first stab at adding relations..
• May 11 - There are 250 users registered. It is a sign of "maturity" that we have a fair share of trolls.
• April 30, 2006 - The six OmegaWiki Commission members get editability and the first of the many followed.
• March 20, 2006
  • We have hundred users; most did fill in their Babel templates :)
  • We have 150 languages in our language list: User Languages
• March 16, 2006 - There is a tarbal Download now
• March 16, 2006 - all languages now have names, and language names should be rendered in the user interface preference language (only English and German names are currently in the database, other languages will fall back to English). The rest of the UI is still English-only.
• March 11, 2006 - we start asking the people who created a user on this wiki to add their Babel information
• February 25, 2006 - second publication of the GEMET data. Changes:
  • Full import, no more red links
  • Modified database design for more abstraction of relations and attributes
  • Themes as relations now working
• December 29, 2005 - GEMET terms moved to namespace 0, typing prefix "GEMET:" is no longer necessary (but still works thanks to namespace synonyms, a feature of Wikidata milestone 1)
